Miss Dunn

After working in law for ten years I realised that my true passion was teaching, as I had been privileged enough to work as a volunteer teaching English as a second language to young children. Following the successful completion of a Masters in Inclusive Education I then completed my PGCE training at Hull University. My first year of teaching was in a Year 1 class in Hull. In September 2015 I was thrilled to be invited to join the wonderful team at Westminster Primary School. My passion is working with children in the early years of their education, so working with the children in the Reception/Year 1 class is perfect for me.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time walking, canoeing and gentle bike rides!

My door is always open to parents, so please do not hesitate to pop in.

Mrs Dudley-Davies

This is my third year at Westminster Primary School, after spending two years working in key stage 2, I was thrilled to be asked to work with the children in Year 1 and Reception. Prior to joining Westminster Primary School I had worked for 7 years in the nursery, so I already knew a lot of the children. I have recently successfully completed the ELKLAN course which will enable me to work closely with children who need support with communication development across the curriculum.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Mrs Farrall

This is my third year of working at Westminster School. I worked for two years in Year 3/4 and this is my first year in EYFS. I'm also part of the school PTA.

In my spare time I love spending time with my family.

Miss Coombes

This is my fourth year at Westminster School. I have been working in Reception for three years, which I thoroughly enjoy. prior to joining Westminster Primary, I worked in a Nursery for five years.

Part of my role in school involves ensuring the children are safe and happy each lunchtime and I also run the Breakfast Club Food Area each morning.

In my spare time I love spending time with my son and my friends.

Week 5

This week are reading a new book Silly Doggy by Adam Stower. Today we read the first page and we are looking forward to finding out if our predictions are correct.

The children will use this texts to enhance their writing opportunities during the next two weeks. The learning environment has lots of opportunities for the children to extend their learning  through exploring and investigation. The children will also continue to look at the change of season to Autumn. 

In maths this week the children are learning to recognise their numbers 0-20. Fun games were being played today with children finding numbers in spaghetti and using tweezers to find the numbers in the dinosaurs. Some children used Numicon for the first time today and found this helped with their number recognition.

PE this week the children are continuing to learn ball control skills and balancing skills. Today the children learnt some hockey skills.

Cookery - this week the chidlren will be making bread.

Phonics - the chidlren are continuing to learn phase 2 sounds. Please practice these at home with your child using the phonics sheet you have. 

This wek the children have decided on this term's targets. These can be found on the stars on the internal door. Ask for the talking pen to hear our targets.

Reading at Home 

Thank you to all of the parents who attended the last two Pop in Thursdays. Parents were able to view their child's work and learn reading at home skills from Miss Dunn. If you have any other queries then please  do not hesitate to ask. The letter we sent to all parents is attached. 

'Pop in Thursday' will take place each week unless you are informed otherwise. Please pop in this Thursday and have a look at the work your children have produced.
