Governors

Our Governing Body consists of 12 governors: (7 x co-opted, 1 x head, 1 x staff, 1 x Local Authority 2 x Parents)

Our governors serve for a 4 year term except staff governors who will serve for 2 years.

Here's what some of our governors say about themselves and their role as a governor:

Phillipa Watton: "My son, Charlie, has justed started in Year 7 at a local Secondary School after completing his Primary education at this school. I have been a governor for four years, starting as a Parent Governor and I am now the Chair of Governors. I really enjoy coming in to work with the children and seeing their confidence and knowledge grow with each school year."

Anne Thompson:  "I worked in various Admin roles during my working life, ending with (early!) retirement after nearly seven years at Sutton High School where I was PA to the Year Heads. It's very different working with Primary School age children!  I am really enjoying reading with the children each Friday and seeing the continuous improvement. The thing which has made the biggest impression on me is how very polite all the students are - all the time! I am Vice Chair of Governors."

Kathleen Spain: "I have had four children attend this school over the years and now have a stepson attending in the Reception Class. I have been a Governor for nearly eight years, firstly as a parent and now as a member of staff. I really enjoy my time in the school and love to hear the 'voice of the children' and to help be part of a team who is focused on helping the future of this school."

Kath Lloyd: "I have been a school governor at nursery, primary and secondary schools and have spent 20 years working in Children’s Services in different Local Authorities.  I spent 3 very happy years as Children’s Centre Manager at Westminster Community Primary School and I’m now back in the area working as a senior manager for the Citizens Advice Service who have an office base just down the road from the school."

Kenny Spain "I am very pleased that I have been a governor since 1991. I have accepted the responsibility and continue to fulfill the commitment. Since this time, I have witnessed the school improve tremendously. There is always a positive feeling when I enter the school and a tremendous buzz of activities."

Jo Seaward:  "I started teaching here in 2007, when I worked in the year 1/2 class/ I am currently working in year 4/5, and am the Maths subject leader.  I have enjoyed working in Westminster over the years, taking part in all school activities and residentials.  I have been a Teacher Governor for 8 years and I am very proud to be part of the School Team, who are devoted to the development and success of the school."

Hannah Gaynor: "I became an Associate Governor in September 2015 and am very proud to be the Deputy Headteacher of this wonderful school. Since starting at Westminster in April 2014, I have become further convinced that this school is a 'treasury box full of special jewels'!"

Sue Finch: "I have been the Headteacher here since 2006. It is a pleasure to work at Westminster Community Primary School and to be part of the excellent team here. We work well together to improve outcomes for our children and as well as working hard, we work with a sense of enjoyment and fun. There is so much to celebrate within our school community and our website will give you a clear picture of our good work."

Each governor works as part of a committee and has a link area within the school. The tables below give you information about each of our governors. There are also documents that you can download. You may also wish to visit the NGA website
