Sport

We use the Complete PE Resource for our curriculum delivery of PE.

We are proud to be members of The Ellesmere Port School Sport Partnership. This enables us to take advantage of the opportunities it provides so that our children can represent their school and take part in events with others in tournaments and competitive sporting events.

We believe that the core principles of sport and exercise are fundamental to a child’s overall development. Teamwork, determination, perseverance, commitment and achieving goals are all instilled through our P.E. curriculum, extra-curricular activities and day-to-day attitudes.

Our Sports Ambassadors support our work to make sure we think about small changes that can be made in order to make a difference in our health. They use resources on Change For Life. As young leaders, they are working well to promote these messages to our children, families and staff which we really appreciate. They can be relied upon to be encouraging role models at school sporting events.

Thanks to our links with the Ellesmere Port School Sports Partnership, we have been lucky enough to access 6 weeks of coaching through the Chance to Shine cricket programme, provided by the Cheshire Cricket Board. This is a great way to introduce the children to a sport they may not have seen or experienced before and to give them a chance to play the game outside of school. As you can see, they had a great time.

School Games Gold Award for 2021/2022

We were delighted to achieve Gold in the School Games Mark for the third time this year! Well done to all the teams who took part, to the staff who support our PE curriculum and to our School Games Officer for making this another fantastic sporting year for Westminster. Ms Finch and two of our Sports Ambassadors attended the Awards Presentation Event at a local Primary School. The children are pictured here with a representative from the Youth Sports Trust having just received the Gold Award.

Sporting in the Virtual World 2021

2021 was another unusual year, with all of our events being held within school. All of our children thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the virtual challenges and we were very proud of their achievements. As you can see, we did very well in a challenging sporting year. Huge thanks to Mrs Birt for her work with all year groups and to our School Games Organiser, Mark, for keeping us on track.

Sporting in the Virtual World 2020

We were recognised for our continued commitment to Sports and PE in 2019-2020. It had been an unusual time for us during the lockdown period, but the children thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the virtual challenges and we are very proud of their achievements.

We also received an award for our involvement in the Virtual Games during the Summer term and here you can see Benjamin proudly displaying the certificate.

Our Athlete Visit programme included a visit from Craig McCann in January 2020. We all took part in a sponsored event to raise money for Sports for Schools.

School Games GOLD Award Presentation – December 2019

It was our pleasure to attend The Ellesmere Port Church of England College to be presented with our Gold School Games Award for 2018/19. Two of our Sports Ambassadors attended along with Ms Finch and were thrilled to be part of the celebrations.

We first gained School Games Mark Gold Award in 2017-2018. Our children showed real enjoyment of their events and engaged well individually and when working as part of a team which allowed them to make the very best of the opportunities they are given.
